Increased competition in Asia is leading companies to put together more attractive Expat packages in new regions
London, UK (Pryce Warner International) January 19th, 2012 – Expats working in the financial sector are being offered less attractive pay deals than Expats used to enjoy over the past few decades.
It is increasingly rare that Expats anywhere have school fees, expenses, housing allowances and company cars given to them.

Despite this, Eastern Europe and the Middle East are still seeing this type of package being offered. This is due to the global financial crisis impacting Asia more than the Middle East or parts of Eastern Europe. In these regions the cost of living is much lower than the far east, meaning more companies can continue to afford this type of package.
For example where before individuals would receive a higher salary, lower tax rate and numerous benefits, now individuals are much more likely to get the salary equivalent, albeit with a lower tax rate.
Those working abroad and looking for the most competitive packages have been advised by analysts to seek out roles in the Middle East, Africa and Eastern Europe.
Previously popular destinations for Expats such as New York or Paris are falling heavily out of favour with some far-flung destinations becoming more attractive. In recent years Mongolia has become highly popular due to strong investments and cheap international flights.
