Following a recent incident involving the now rescinded deportation of an Indian employee with a valid work permit, the high court has overruled the Kenyan Immigration Department (KID)
London, UK (Pryce Warner International) February 13th, 2012 - This has set a precedent for protecting Expats from no longer being able to be deported for minor infractions.
The case of scratch card production manager Devaraj Malarmesai Bagavan illustrated how easy it can be for locals to get Expats deported, but the chief officer of the KID has now been banned from cancelling permits without just cause.

The case caused a certain amount of outrage amongst nationals who were disappointed to learn that the government had failed to comprehend the value of Bagavan’s work and the export income generated for the Kenyan economy.
Signalling something of a sea-change, it is now hoped by many that the high court will continue to defend professional Expats in order to prevent any further unjust evictions and prompt unprecedented advances throughout the system as a whole.
