Voting Rights Granted To Pakistani Expats

After appealing to the Supreme Court, secretary of the Pakistani Election Commission Ishtiak Ahmed Khan has granted voting rights to 3.7 million Pakistani nationals working overseas in time for the 2013 general elections.

London, UK (Pryce Warner International) February 21st, 2012 - Whilst suggestions have been made to make polling booths accessible at Pakistani embassies as well as a postal voting system, details are yet to be finalised, although the electoral register is set to include the names of Pakistani expats from around the world.

Political parties and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were united in the decision and it’s now expected that the postal voting system will be favoured, with poll documents being issued to Pakistanis of voting age via the National Database and Registration Authority.
